The 5 Best Things to do while visiting Jekyll Island

Located off the coast of the state of Georgia, Jekyll Island is one of the Sea Islands and offers some amazing adventures for the traveler. With guided tours, many public beaches and an impressive historic district, Jekyll Island is a popular tourist destination. Today I’m going to share the 5 best things to do while visiting Jekyll Island so that you can fully plan your next excursion to this beautiful location.
4-H Tidelands Nature Center
Enjoy a self-guided tour that’s run by the University of Georgia where you get a hands-on experience with the local animals. You’ll see crabs, fish, and reptiles at this nature center. If you’re looking for a little more adventure, you can hop on a kayak for a tour or rent a paddle boat to fully enjoy your visit to 4-H Tidelands Nature Center.
Great Dunes Park
With plenty of parking options for access to Jekyll Island’s beaches, Great Dunes Park will allow your family to enjoy some downtime. From finding sea shells to watching the waves roll in, you’ll surely enjoy the beautiful beach at this park. You can rent bikes across the street from where you park to enjoy the 20 miles of biking trails here and then cool off in the cool ocean water.

Georgia Sea Turtle Center
This location is an advanced hospital geared towards education and helping with the ecosystem. Their mission is to help educate the problems with wildlife conservation and do their part to help sea turtles remain alive. You can visit this location and see their museum, tour their facilities and perhaps even catch a glimpse of a few sea turtles hatching.

Driftwood Beach
This beach in Jekyll Island is one of my favorite. It offers a location for amazing photo opportunities with the beautiful driftwood that’s seen all over the beach. This calming location makes you feel as if you’ve gone to another planet. The views of variously sized driftwood combined with the salty smell of the sea and long beach sands, you’ll surely enjoy capturing photos here before you leave the island.
Summer Waves Water Park
Lastly, I’d like to tell you about this water park where you and the family can cool off before you leave the island. Enjoy laps around Turtle Creek where you can be lazy and enjoy the cool water around you. Rent a cabana while here to have a shady place to relax in between water park adventures. This water park also offers a beautiful view of Jekyll River.

Jekyll Island is unique in that it’s been known to attract people from all walks of life. Whether you’re young or older, this location will surely inspire you to enjoy a peaceful, seaside vacation.
